How I review health research.

The goal is simple: show you what the evidence says, what it does not say, and which entries still need a deeper review.

01 • Sources

Strong sources come first.

  1. Current FDA, NIH, HHS, FTC, WADA, or other official records
  2. Systematic reviews of human studies
  3. Randomized human trials
  4. Other human research
  5. Animal or laboratory research, clearly labeled

A trial registration shows that a study record exists. It does not prove the study started, finished, or produced a result.

02 • Review labels

Not every entry has the same depth.

Reviewed summary means the entry uses records chosen for that compound and claim.

Index entry gives broader coverage and clearly labeled search links. It still needs a deeper, claim-by-claim review.

03 • Evidence labels

Evidence is graded for the listed use.

An evidence label is not a safety rating, product recommendation, or promise that another use works.

Established medical use
A specific finished medicine has evidence and FDA approval for the use named. Approval does not transfer to other products or uses.
Several human studies
More than one useful human study supports the listed use, but important limits may remain.
Mixed results in people
Human studies exist, but their findings disagree or do not support one clear conclusion.
Early research in people
Small or early human studies exist. They cannot establish a reliable benefit or long-term safety.
Only lab or animal research
No dependable human outcome evidence has been established.
No reliable human benefit shown
Available human evidence is absent, too weak, or does not support the listed claim.

04 • Updates

Status can change.

FDA decisions, published results, and product status can change. Important entries are updated when a new official record changes the bottom line. Each detailed review should show its own review date.

05 • Corrections

Errors should be easy to report.

Every library entry includes a correction link. Send the compound name, what appears wrong, and the strongest source you found.

06 • Independence

Education and partnerships stay separate.
